Mola TV - Redesigning Registration Flow with UGC
Mola had a tons of contents (football matches, boxing, martial arts, movies, kids etc). But, they never know what user really want to watch everytime they open Mola TV.
How to design User generated flow for new and existing users, based on their preferences?
01
Solution
User Generated Flow can customize the content to the user's liking where at the time of registration, the user is asked to choose the content they like. So, I redesigned the registration flow in the Mola TV application.
02
Research
I conducted User Research and Paper Research.
User Research
I began by conducting user research to understand the ease of use and primary purpose of the Mola TV application among its users. Here are the questions I asked:
When did you start using Mola TV?
What did you want to watch the first time you opened it?
Did you experience any confusion during registration?
If yes, what was confusing?
How long did it take you to register?
Besides the content you mentioned in question 2, what else do you watch?
Is it easier or harder to find what you want to watch now compared to before?
Research Findings
I interviewed two 20-year-olds and combined their responses with my own experience. Although I wanted to interview more people, these were the only ones I could meet.
They started using Mola TV when the Premier League 2019/2020 season resumed (around June).
They subscribed only to the Premier League package until the end of the 2019/2020 season.
They didn't find the registration process confusing and used Google Login.
One participant tried watching a movie but didn't finish it.
They primarily watch soccer matches, which they find sufficient. However, they are also interested in watching movies and series on Mola, though there aren't many updates.
Paper Research
Based on the paper "User Experience Design of User Generated Content Products" by Hongyuan Ma (2016), here are some design recommendations for products with user-generated content:
Scenario-based entry of production content.
Use easy navigation.
Provide incentives to users.
Research Conclusion:
User-generated content can be customized to the user's preferences. During registration, users can choose the content they like, enhancing their experience.
03
Wireframing
In making this wireframe and flow, I have designed some features that will be an option when the hi-fi UI design is formed. In my description:
When a new user signs up, they will see a view to select their favorite shows.
After they choose their favorite show, they will be given a choice of packages according to their favorite show selection.
Then, if they choose the Football spectacle (soccer league) it will be shown the selection of favorite teams according to the number of leagues they choose.

Sign In & Sign Up
Users can register or log in using "Continue with Google," "Continue with Facebook," or "Sign in with Email," with an additional option for manual registration. These features streamline the registration process for quick and efficient access.
Walkthrough
The app guides users through three steps:
Select Favorite Shows: After logging in with Google, users pick up to five favorite shows from movies, TV series, and live sports.
Choose Subscription Package: Users select a package and proceed to payment.
Select Favorite Teams: Users choose their favorite teams from the leagues picked in the first step.
Home and Navigation
The homepage features:
Live Matches and Continue Watching: Easy access to ongoing matches and resuming unfinished content.
Trending This Week: Highlights popular content.
Menu Adjustments: Schedule placed centrally in the bottom menu, and top menu divided into Home, Sports, Movies, and Daily Life for improved navigation.
Profile
The Profile section includes:
Renamed Subscription: Now called Profile for better user recognition.
MOLA KIDS Button: Switches to a kid-friendly view.
Profile Structure: Organized into Account, Settings, and Privacy, with a Customer Service button in the upper right corner to reduce menu clutter.
